Cab and Chassis Info
Interior Storage
When talking roomy interior and cargo convenience, Dodge Ram Chassis Cab trucks
with Quad Cab® speak volumes. That's 143.3 cubic feet of total cab volume, to
be exact. In fact, the rear seat folds up to expose a fold-flat steel load floor
that stores work gear of all kinds, and it helps keep muddy items from soiling the
carpeting. Underneath this load floor — and throughout the interior — in both Regular-
and Quad Cab® models, you'll find bins for additional storage.
Both Regular Cab and Quad Cab® models feature a center business console that is large enough to store a laptop computer and lets you keep often-used items close at hand. The large, in-dash, lighted glove box organizes important documents like registration, insurance papers, invoices and work permits.
Towing & Payload
Dodge Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs are designed, engineered, tested and built to meet the higher performance standards of commercial truck buyers. Their impressive Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) provide brute-scale towing and payload capacity.
For example, the Dodge Ram 3500 Regular Chassis Cab with the single-rear-wheel axle offers a best-in-class 10,200-pound GVWR and 5500 weighs in at up to 19,500 GVWR. Dodge Ram 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs have more diesel Regular and Quad Cab models for heavier loads than Ford F-450 and F-550 plus they feature best-in-class standard tow hooks. Engines & Fuel Tanks
Cummins®. It's a legend among diesels, tough-as-nails and willing to work overtime. The renowned 6.7-liter Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine reliably churns out a mighty 305 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a Variable Geometry Turbocharger, which boosts performance and fuel economy. And the Cummins® engine comes standard with a class-exclusive, factory-installed exhaust brake.
Cummins power is efficient and reliable. High-efficiency electronic fuel injection
improves fuel economy and it's the only diesel that meets more stringent ARB state
emission standards. This allows Chassis Cabs to idle indefinitely at a job site
so you can use their HVAC and electrical features. Cummins has fewer moving parts
than gasoline engines, so it's extra durable.
Speaking of durable, Ram 3500 Chassis Cab offers the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine, which now features variable valve timing for even greater efficiency and performance.
Handling & Suspension
Dodge Ram Chassis Cabs are built with burden-bearing suspension. Their rear suspension features auxiliary spring leaves that support each truck's full-rated load. A five-link coilover front suspension with a wide-mounted design improves handling under heavy loads and provides higher ground clearance.
Just as important, Chassis Cabs boast big braking power. They have the largest brake rotors in their class and all come with a four-wheel Antilock Brake System (ABS). Dodge Ram 5500 Chassis Cab features best-in-class brake wear — lasting over three times as long as Ford F-550's brakes — so you'll spend more time on the road and less in the shop. The available class-exclusive, integrated exhaust brake reduces brake fade, prolongs brake life, and provides stopping safety and confidence when hauling heavy loads on downhill grades. An exhaust brake switch is included on properly equipped models.
Sturdy Frame
With brute-strong, upfit-accommodating frames, Dodge Ram Chassis Cabs are ready to be customized to work for you. Boasting 50,000 PSI of rear frame steel strength – the strongest in its class for 3500 – Chassis Cabs can carry up to 8,890 pounds of payload. With industry-standard 34-inch frame rail spacing, a flat frame rail and c-channel construction, you can upfit your Chassis Cab to handle whatever that payload might be.
Durable limited-slip rear axles help carry the weight too. Axles for single-rear-wheel (SRW) vehicles have a rear Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of 6,500 pounds. The dual-rear-wheel (DRW) axle features a rear GAWR of 13,500 pounds. Dodge Ram 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab trucks have an unsurpassed, competition-crushing standard front GAWR of 7,000 pounds.
Upfit Friendly
All Dodge Ram Chassis Cab trucks are engineered to make easy work of upfitting so you can get the job done. From industry-standard electrical provisions to two fuel tank locations, they're designed to be compatible with a variety of conversions. And they're capable, too, with available power takeoff capacity. For more information, visit Dodgebodybuilder.com.
